ITunes Fusion Not Syncing All Playlists

Hello,
In attempting to sync 7 playlists to a USB stick using Itunes Fusion I'm getting some playlists that don't sync. The playlists show up on the USB stick as 18KB files, but the files appear to be blank when viewed in Windows Explorer. When the USB stick is played in my car (Ford Sync) the playlists in question don't show up. The playlists that are failing to sync are subsets of my main "Music" playlist. That main playlist does sync. However two of the playlists do appear to sync and they too are subsets of my main Music playlist.

I have uninstalled iTunes Fusion, reinstalled it (now on version 3.1) and I have the latest version of ITunes, 12.6.2.20.

The USB Drive is formatted FAT32, I don't think Ford Sync is compatible with NTFS.

Please let me know if you have any suggestions.

Thanks

Could you attach a copy of a sub-playlist (copied from the USB stick) that works, and a copy of one that doesn't work?

Hi Keith,

Two playlist files attached, Classical Music appeared to work, Jazz Favorites did not.

It also appears that music that copies to the USB drive doesn't show up in the main playlist.

Please let me know if I can be of further help.

Thanks

Hi Keith,

Sorry that the files didn't come through. I've zipped two playlists and attached.

One playlist, Classical Music, has content, whereas, Jazz Favorites, another playlist comes up empty.

I've tried deleting and reinstalling Itunes Fusion, deleting and redoing my playlists and there has been no change. Itunes version is 12.6.2.20, Itunes Fusion Pro Version is 3.1

Glad to provide anything else that will help.

Thanks,

Steve

Interesting! The Classical playlist is an m3u8 format, whereas the Jazz on is just m3u. In the Sync Profile settings, if you change the "Playlist Save Format" option to "M3U8 (Unicode)", then do a new sync, does that make any difference at all?

Hi Keith,
I'll give it a try and report back. It had been set to "Auto".
Thanks!

Hi Keith - OK, it seemed to help to go to the Unicode setting for playlists. The playlists that are a subset of the Music playlist are now syncing with content.

Another problem has become apparent. Itunes Fusion is copying over some music files, but they aren't showing up in any of the playlists, and therefore, the Ford Sync system doesn't show those tracks as being available for play.

Any suggestions?

Thanks for your help!

Keith - an update. Without the playlists that are subsets of the Music playlist the tracks all appear to be visible. I'd like the subset playlists to work, but it isn't essential.

Thanks for your help.

So if the playlists are nested, they don't work, but if they're just regular root level playlists they work fine? Is it a Ford Sync 2 or 3?

It's Ford Sync 2.

Ok, thanks! Could you attach one of the nested playlists that doesn't work, and then another copy of the playlist when it's not nested? I'd like to diff the files and see what's different about them.

Hi Keith. Sorry for not following up. Right now I'm thinking that the problem is on the Ford side, not the Itunes Fusion side. I've tried creating the playlists in different formats. The itunes fusion-created USB stick is working in one of our cars, which has the current version of Ford Sync, and not the other car, which has the older Microsoft-based version of Ford Sync. Weird huh?

No worries, that is weird indeed! If we are able to find out any more, we'll definitely post an update.

Thanks!
